For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen My grip on your life!” So we can say with great confidence: “I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!” Hebrews 13:5b-6

Shalom dear brothers and sisters,
This morning I read Hebrews 13:5b-6, among other things, and was struck by it. What struck me so much about this scripture, is that it is written that God will 'never' leave you, ‘never!’ and He will 'not loosen His grip on our life!’. So whatever happens in our lives that we seem to have no control over, He will 'never' leave us and 'not loose His grip on our life!’
How much hope does this give! The Word of God is our confidence; God is our confidence. He is our Helper.
So no matter what happens, He will definitely help you!
This means for us that we must have confidence in Him. Sometimes it is often “easier said than done!” Confidence is something that many of us probably find difficult at times. Many times the enemy has caused our 'confidence' to be damaged. For example, to have trust and confidence in people, and as a result often our trust and confidence in our heavenly Father has also damaged.
But when we are born again, the Bible says that we have become a new creation:
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Everything has become new: we are born again. Not born again physically, but born spiritually. As Jesus also said to Nicodemus:
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:5-6
What we need to know is that when we are born again, our way of thinking must also be born again. Our old thought patterns must change and also be born again.
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind
Ephesians 4:23
The old man is accustomed to thoughts governed by the "lie" of the enemy.
How can we change our old thought patterns? Very easy: read the Bible every day. The Bible contains the Truth about Who God is, the Truth about Who Jesus is, and also the Truth about who you are in the Lord Jesus. You are, among other things:
** a child of God: John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:
** you are justified: Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
** you are a friend of Jesus: John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
** you are a member of the Body of Jesus: 1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
** you have been redeemed and forgiven from all your sins: Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
** and you are so much more....!
When we teach our minds the truth by reading His Word and thus renew our minds, we will become stronger and our confidence in God will also increase. Because: what you eat is what you become, we all know that. As you read (eat) His Word, your mind is renewed in His way of thinking.
As your new thinking is building you up, you will begin to believe more and more, get stronger and have faith that He will 'definitely' not leave you and will 'definitely' not let you go.
In verse 6 of Hebrews 13 we read: ”So we can say with great confidence: “I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!”
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
'sound mind' is thoughtfulness. That means a healthy mind: healthy thoughts.
The Passion Translation translates as we red in the beginning of this blog: “So we can say with great confidence: “I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!”
Well! How beautiful is that! Be encouraged by these words from God to you! Whatever situation you are in, God is 'definitely' involved. Call on Him in your need, in all your challenges. Even though the mountains seem high and you think you can't possibly get over them.
Maybe it helps to look back at the mountains that you have already conquered with Him and that you overcame. Then you can know that you will 'definitely' also overcome over the current mountain that you see in front of you. Jesus Himself promised us: “I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen My grip on your life!”. It may not always be in the way we have in mind, but when we dare to put our confidence and trust in Him, He will 'never' leave us, never and 'will not loosen His grip on your life!. We do not need to be afraid, but we need to know that He has given us a spirit of love, power and a sound mind.
I want to end with a scripture from Jeremiah:
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity
Jeremiah 29:11-14a
God's abundant blessing in all the mountains you face. HE IS definitely there.
Awaiting His Return,
Natasja
